If you are currently private renting to a tenant for use then legally you will need to make sure that the electrical installation within that property is safe for use and is not a shock or fire hazard. As of the 1st of June 2020, all newly tenanted properties will need an Electrical safety check and as of the 1st of April 2021 all existing tenanted properties will need this to be carried out too.
We can provide a Landlords Safety Certificate which will provide an Electrical installation condition report to identify any issues and to make sure your property is safe for use and up to electrical standards and regulations. You will need to carry out a new Landlords safety check whenever there is a change of tenant or every 5 years.
As a landlord you must also make sure appliances within use such as Ovens, Kettles, Microwaves that are provided as part of the tenancy are safe to use and this is done by carrying out a PAT test which we recommend every 6-12 months.
